Healthy Inspiration- Macro Types week 10
Welcome and Thank You for coming!

I have always loved the expression “It is not about the years in your life but the life in your years”.
Applying this idea to health, “it is not about the calories in your food but the food in your calories”.
We can enjoy the food we eat and still take into consideration what nutrients our body needs.
Which foods will help you to thrive and achieve your wellness goals?
According to Christine Hronec, a renowned Chemical Engineer, Nutrition and Exercise expert, you need to determine your “body type/macro type” and eat to meet your bio individual nutrient needs to achieve your wellness goals.
Between her you tube channel, program and NYT best selling books, she has an impressive following. Her program, which has helped over 40,000 women is all about finding out what works for you. (Based on your macro-type)
This science is more than just making decisions based on body type. This combines what your body type is with what your tolerance for carbs is.
Carb tolerance is connected to the hormone insulin. Carb consumption in the right amount for your body helps you build muscle and gives you energy to perform. (Insulin shuttles glucose and amino acids into your cells) Your body has a limited amount of space for storing carbs.
If you eat more carbs than your body needs for energy and your carb storage limit in your body is already full, the additional carbs you are eating, that your body does not need, get stored as fat. (Insulin is a fat storing hormone)
The bad news… the body has an unlimited ability to store fat. (But a limited ability to store carbs before they become fat)
More bad news…Too much fat on your body can cause leptin resistance. This is when the hormone (leptin) that helps your body feel full stops working and why you unfortunately can be hungrier when you weigh more than when you are smaller and lose weight.
Quality of carbs matters too. Healthy vegetables and fruit are always better than any processed food option.
If you want to lose weight you really want to lose fat. (Not water weight or lean muscle mass)
There are 5 macro types but they are placed into 3 categories.
Carb Fueled
Protein Fueled
Fat Fueled
Here is a link to find out which Macro Type you are. ( you may have to cut and paste it in your browser)

According to the quiz in her book, I am a Fat Fueled / Low Carb Macro type.
I crave fats more than sugar so I do find this interesting! (Think cheese and peanut butter)
This may be why I personally feel good when starting my day with bullet proof coffee which is made with MCT Oil and ghee. It keeps my energy levels high, decreases my appetite and increases my ability to focus.
If you want to lose fat, your carb storage in your body should not be full. This brings me back to Fasting. A tool (especially when combined with an active lifestyle and exercise) can help your body get to the place where you do burn fat instead of storing it.
Whatever your body/macro type may be… it all comes down to healthy habits and foods. There really is no easy fix. Knowing which macro type you are may prove to be a beneficial tool in helping you learn more about what works for you!
As always, Fill Up On Healthy and have less room for the other stuff but enjoy the other stuff too.
